Pivot Energy Named 2019 Community Solar Project of the Year

The Colorado Solar and Storage Association (COSSA) has named Pivot Energy the 2019 Community Solar Project of the Year winner for their Garfield County Housing Authority community solar garden!

Now, in their second year, the awards honor the individuals, projects and products behind the Mountain West’s successful solar and energy storage industries.

Chosen by an independent panel of judges with diverse expertise in the electric power industry, Pivot Energy and more winners of six separate categories will be celebrated during an awards ceremony on Sunday, April 14 to kick off the Solar Power and Energy Storage Mountain West conference in Aurora, CO.

The winning installation serves the Garfield County Housing Authority (GCHA), a low-income housing provider located in Parachute, Colorado. Standard Solar, a leading solar energy company, specializing in the development and financing of solar electric systems nationwide, financed the 100 kW fixed-tilt array bringing the project to fruition. The solar garden directly benefits the senior tenants and GCHA’s administration building. Their subscription to the solar garden, administered through SunCentral, reduces their annual energy costs for the next 20 years!

“This is a great example of a community solar project benefiting local subscribers on numerous levels. We are fortunate to have partners like the Garfield County Housing Authority and Standard Solar to be able to extend the benefits of community solar to low-income senior tenants,” said Jon Sullivan, VP of Project Development at Pivot Energy.

“The 2019 Solar Power and Energy Storage Awards underline the novel projects and programs across the Mountain West. They provide ample evidence for why, with the right market structures, we should lead the nation in deploying clean energy solutions,” said Mike Kruger, President, and CEO of COSSA. “This year’s winners exemplify the innovative spirit of Colorado’s clean energy movement and demonstrate why they are leaders within their industries.”

The 2019 COSSA Solar Power and Energy Storage Award winners will be celebrated during an awards ceremony on April 14 from 6:00 – 7:30 pm at the Hyatt Regency in Aurora, C.O., kicking off Solar Power Mountain West. Register for the ceremony here.
