Pivot Energy's Annie Lappé Named to The SustainabilityX® Magazine's 5th Annual Global 50 Women In Sustainability Awards™ 2026

Special 10th anniversary edition recognizes Pivot’s Annie Lappé among 100 women leading sustainability forward in an "Age of Resistance"

DENVER, Oct. 27, 2026 – Pivot Energy, a leading national solar and storage renewable energy provider and independent power producer, announced today that Annie Lappé, Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs, has been named to The SustainabilityX® Magazine's 5th Annual Global 50 Women In Sustainability Awards™ 2026. In honor of the magazine's 10th anniversary, this year's edition recognizes 100 women advancing sustainability across climate, business, policy, finance, governance, and community leadership.

Centered on the theme of "Leading in an Age of Resistance: Moving Forward in a World Moving Backwards," the awards honor women who continue to act with courage and purpose as climate action, equity, and inclusion face growing pushback. Lappé was recognized for her work in advancing a more inclusive and resilient future and mentoring the next generation of clean energy leaders.

"This year is deeply personal and deeply symbolic," said Supriya Verma, WELL AP, Founder of The SustainabilityX® Magazine and author of Bold Women, Sustainable Futures: Leadership Lessons in an Age of Resistance. "We are celebrating the women who continue to lead forward when the world feels uncertain, divided, and resistant to progress."

At Pivot, Lappé directs federal and local affairs, land stewardship and agrivoltaics strategy, marketing and communications, and client solutions, leading an integrated approach that elevates Pivot’s industry leadership and deepens trust with communities, policymakers, and commercial partners nationwide. She brings more than 25 years of experience in renewable energy policy and operational change management, including running clean energy policy campaigns at the state and federal levels.

Leading the Clean Energy Transition

Lappé’s exceptional accomplishments include building a five-year framework agreement with Microsoft to develop up to 500 megawatts of community-impact-focused solar projects across the United States. The partnership focuses on four overarching community-centric initiatives that Pivot will prioritize: 1) increasing the diversity of its subcontractors, 2) partnering with workforce development organizations and subcontractors to train and hire local diverse talent, 3) partnering with Sustain Our Future Foundation to invest in equitable community initiatives, and, 4) increasing the energy bill savings of the community solar projects directed to low-income subscribers.

“At a moment when climate action and equity are facing real pushback, this recognition bolsters my spirits,” said Lappé. “ My mission is to move the U.S. to a 100% clean electricity grid, where every community, especially the ones that have historically been left out, sees the benefits in the form of reduced energy bills, local energy jobs, and cleaner air. I’m grateful to SustainabilityX for this honor and to my colleagues at Pivot, who show up every day committed to making this equitable, clean future happen.”

Through the Pivot community donation program she launched in 2024, Pivot has donated more than $3 million to date to over 70 different local non-profits and initiatives to support low-income energy bill relief, solar industry workforce development, and local land stewardship efforts.

She also created Pivot's community engagement protocol, a three-touchpoint outreach plan paired with training for development teams, now used across every Pivot project. The protocol reflects one of Lappé's core beliefs: that it is a company's responsibility to earn the trust and privilege of doing business in a community.
