Colorado’s largest community solar developer breaks into Solar Power World magazine’s top 100 list of national solar contractors
Today, Pivot Energy announced it has been ranked 81st out of 407 national solar contractors on Solar Power World magazine’s 2020 Top Solar Contractors list. The Top Solar Contractors list is the most recognized annual listing of solar contractors in the United States working in the utility, commercial, and residential markets. The company climbed more than 100 spots within the rankings from the previous year, where it was 184th overall.
Pivot appeared in the rankings multiple times, including 30th out of 129 for national commercial solar developers, and 5th for Colorado solar contractors.
The Top Solar Contractors list is developed each year by Solar Power World to honor the work of big and small solar installers. Solar firms in the utility, commercial, and residential markets are ranked by the number of kilowatts installed in the previous year.
“We are thrilled to see our name listed within the top 100 of all solar contractors nationally,” said Tom Hunt, CEO of Pivot Energy. “The latest rankings are a testament to our team’s dedication and hard work to bring as much solar energy online as possible. As the industry’s leading business-to-business publication, we’d like to thank Solar Power World for their work to recognize all the companies leading the industry’s growth.”
“The Solar Power World team is so pleased to highlight more than 400 companies on the 2020 Top Solar Contractors list, especially during this unprecedented time,” said Kelsey Misbrener, senior editor of Solar Power World. “All contractors featured on the 2020 list reported strong 2019 installation numbers and are continuing to stand tall this year.”
This year’s collection of more than 400 Top Solar Contractors is facing obstacles that this industry has never seen before. The first quarter of 2020 was the country’s biggest ever, with 3.6 GW of new solar capacity added. But COVID-19 impacts showed their force in Q2, and Wood Mackenzie is forecasting residential and non-residential markets will see 25% and 38% decreases in year-over-year installation volumes this year.
Pivot Energy employs 48 workers who installed over 21 MW of solar power in 2019. Since its founding in 2009, the company has installed over 40 MW of solar. The company operates on a triple bottom line basis, measuring success by the positive impact to people, planet, and profit.
